Community Support Services (CSS)

A community-based membership programme for persons with disabilities. Through a variety of initiatives and support services, we aim to empower them to make the best use of their abilities and integrate better into society.

Building a Community of Support 

CSS fosters a supportive and inclusive environment that affirms and celebrates the abilities of persons with intellectual disabilities. By participating in this paid membership programme, they can reach their full potential, achieve greater independence, and social integration.  

This is done through: 

  • The Learn Interact Fun Explore (L.I.F.E) Programme 
  • Employment support
  • Casework management and care coordination 
  • Family and community support 

Through these initiatives, we also create opportunities to build healthy friendships and positive values, improving their social well-being and participation in the community. 

How We Help

L.I.F.E Programme

This bi-weekly programme serves as a nurturing platform to foster supportive friendships, enhance life skills, reduce social isolation, and promote positive values among adults with disabilities. 

  • Learn: Promote meaningful learning through practical life examples and friendly competition 
  • Interact: Provide a platform for social integration and positive relationship building 
  • Fun: Ensure that recreational activities are both enjoyable and fulfilling  
  • Explore: Offer adaptive tools and practice opportunities to enhance problem-solving skills  
Employment Support

We support persons with disabilities in their employment and train them to hold on to their jobs. This is done through: 

  • Job preparation and training 
  • Job placement and support 
  • Exploration of alternative job opportunities 
Casework Management and Care Coordination

We provide support for the changing needs of persons with disabilities at different life stages. These include:  

  • Social-emotional support 
  • Long-term care planning
  •  Referral, resources, and care coordination to support our persons with disabilities and their caregivers with their needs in areas such as medical care and financial assistance 

 

Family and Community Support

Caregivers play an important role in the support system for persons with disabilities. We adopt a family-centric approach and work together with caregivers to work towards community integration. This is done through: 

  • Caregiver support 
  • Family bonding events 
  • Community involvement opportunities 

Eligibility Criteria 

CSS is a paid membership programme for persons with disabilities. To qualify, you must meet certain requirements: 

  • Aged 18 and above 
  • Diagnosed with one or more of the following disabilities:
    • Intellectual disability 
    • Autism Deafness 
    • Physical disability 
  • Able to travel independently and not require any personal assistance in toileting or feeding 
  • Must have no severe psychiatric and behavioural issues 

CSS Membership Benefits

CSS Membership Benefits

A CSS membership costs $25 per year. With it, you will receive these benefits:

  • Bi-weekly life skills activities (L.I.F.E Programme), held at TOUCHpoint@Geylang Bahru 
  • 4 sessions of individual support every year 
  • Outings and celebrations 
  • Service-learning opportunities

Support Us Through the CSS L.I.F.E Programme

Community Support Services

We are actively looking for volunteers to create a welcoming and safe environment for persons with disabilities. This gives them the opportunity to connect with others and enhance their abilities through meaningful and enjoyable interactions and activities.
